Cramer Street

Location: Cramer St, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.
Architect: Meg Baniukiewicz, HB Designs, LLC
Interior Designer: Morgan Catron
Municipality: WFB
Project Duration: 8 months
Project Scope: Whole home remodel with a two story addition to expand the kitchen and create a master suite above.

Challenges: As with any remodeling and addition project on an 80+ year old home, there are many challenges. These types of homes are normally built well, but code compliance back then was scarce or non-existent in many circumstances. Over time, the building becomes out of plum, out of level, and out of square, and these issues are oftentimes because of over spanned joists or inadequate support for modern finishes.

Unique Circumstances: Additions in WFB are always challenging due to the small lots and close proximity of the neighbors houses. It is a logistical dance we have to do to ensure all things are considered and everyone (including neighbors) are happy with the project. In this case, we did a whole home remodel and large addition to one of the neighbors’ houses, so they graciously allowed us use of their driveway for construction. That is the epitome of a good neighbor!

Result: This home remodel has not only added valuable square footage to the property but has also redefined the living spaces with modern amenities and design. The new kitchen seamlessly integrates with the home’s existing structure, providing an ideal setting for both cooking and social gatherings. Above, the master suite has been transformed into a luxurious retreat, boasting increased space, modern comforts, and a refined aesthetic. This remodel exemplifies the perfect blend of functional design and elegant living, tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle.
