Challenges: Our team undertook the majority of this home addition project during the winter months, which presented significant challenges. The frequent snowfalls posed a considerable risk to the concrete we were pouring and curing, potentially compromising its strength and durability. To mitigate these issues, we erected heavy-duty tarps and temporary enclosures over the concrete areas to shield them from the elements. This proactive approach was crucial in preventing rain and snow from directly impacting the concrete and potentially flooding the basement.
Unique Circumstances: The brick we used for the home addition is a reclaimed brick called Chicago Pink that’s not made anymore. The bricks were removed and salvaged from another building—likely in Chicago or in Milwaukee—and resold to contractors and homeowners here in Milwaukee.
Results: This transformation exceeded the homeowners’ expectations. The thoughtfully designed spaces and meticulous craftsmanship created an inviting and comfortable environment that quickly became a cherished haven for this father and his children. They were all very happy with their new living space, appreciating both the aesthetic appeal and the practical improvements.
