Challenges: This old River Hills estate was originally built in 1931 and was recently purchased by a family looking to make it a home. During the construction process, our team found out the kitchen walls were made of brick, which made demolition much more difficult than expected. The original floor plan and layout of the house was also very awkward since the kitchen was divided into several small spaces, and the new owners wanted it to be a large open area.

Unique Circumstances: With all the house’s lovely historical accents, there also came circuitous layouts, low ceilings, and small rooms that didn’t make sense for contemporary living. Our construction team ended up having to flip-flop the dining room with the third living space and transform the former dining area into a family room that opened to the kitchen.

Result: We opened the kitchen and dining room areas up in a more modern design, making it seem like a collected Parisian apartment. The homeowners were thrilled with how each room turned out.
